my design journey
From a young age I have always been into creating and making. I remember spending far too long on school assignments and posters, making sure that everything looked nice – sometimes spending more time on the making than the actual research component!
During high school was when I first encountered formal design practices, choosing this pathway in Visual Art, and branching out into web Design and Animation Prototypes in Creative Digital Technology pathways. I was never shy to lend my design skill set to poster making, badge design and the school magazine.
The decision to study at Massey University’s Toi Rauwhārangi was a no brainer and over the course of my studies I am refining and learning new skills and have discovered a passion for editorial and layout design.
My recent university projects have led me to push the boundaries of design, creating well considered final outcomes. These not only look visually appealing, but also have a tactile feel to them, giving the paper stock as much thought as the designs printed on it.
I am well experienced in design and working with clients. In 2023 I completed a 3 month long internship with OpenLab, which taught me invaluable skills particularly in regards to market research, user testing and working with multiple stakeholders. The final product form this cross media campaign is set to launch in 2024, and I am excited to be able to share it when it launches.
I also have experiencing freelancing, creating a range of websites, social media assists and visual identities for a range of clients from Beauty Salons, to childcare centres to Garden Landscapers and some government organisations too.
I am a firm believer in the iterative design process, and with all my projects have looked to co-design principals to get the best final product for the client.
